About us

Who is Fluffy Dice Taxis?

Fluffy Dice Taxis was founded by Graeme White in February 2023, with the support of his brother, to meet the growing demand for reliable and affordable taxi services in their hometown of Whangarei. After experiencing the challenges of finding a taxi during nights out and hearing similar frustrations from family and friends, the brothers recognized the need for a better solution. With over 3.5 years of experience and more than 6,300 rides under his belt from working with a rideshare company in Auckland, Graeme was often asked when such a service would be available in Whangarei. Rather than waiting for someone else to step in, they decided to take action and establish Fluffy Dice Taxis, ensuring that the people of Whangarei had access to a trustworthy and comfortable taxi service. After the first year, Graeme’s brother stepped away from the business due to other commitments. By February 2024, Fluffy Dice Taxis had grown significantly, handling up to 30 rides per day and receiving bookings up to three months in advance.

The increased demand led to the need for additional help, and Amanda Bennett, Graeme’s long-time girlfriend, joined the team full-time to manage calls, bookings, and general administration.

The fleet currently includes a Mitsubishi Outlander SUV, offering ample legroom and a smooth, comfortable ride for all passengers.

On a personal note, after 4 and half years together, Graeme proposed to Amanda in July 2024, adding a special milestone to their journey together.

Why the name Fluffy Dice Taxis?

The name was inspired by a set of fluffy dice sitting on a shelf left behind by a daughter.  Then looking into the meaning of them dates back to World War II.

Pilots during the war would put lucky trinkets in their aircraft to keep them safe. While these items varied, pilots often used gambling pieces, such as chips and dice, because they were tokens of good luck. The idea was that if these gaming pieces could help you win some money, they might protect you as well. Following World War II, using dice as a decoration continued as a tradition. Eventually, people started hanging fluffy dice on their rearview mirrors as it was a sign of luck. Many people started doing this trend, which is when fluffy dice became extremely popular.
